Impact of Waste Iron Slag on Mechanical and Durability Properties of Concrete

Waste management is of great concern in today’s world. Every year, an enormous amount solid waste generated from different industrial activities, especially the which produced by iron industries a particular form slag. The major issue emission carbon dioxide (CO2) cement serious problem for earth's environment and surrounding area. Thus, this study, slag obtained nearby was used as partial substitute cement. replaced with (IS) at substitution levels 7.5%, 15%, 22.5%, 30% 37.5% weight doses superplasticizer every mix were taken based on essential workability requirements reinforcedconcrete work. Performance control blended mixes evaluated evaluation, compressive strength test, flexural water permeability absorption rapid chloride penetration test (RCPT) carbonation test. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) to assess micro-structural changes evaluate chemistry mixes. results study encouraging terms strengths. maximum strengths recorded 22.5% replacement level also better compared mix. resistance slag-made concrete against adverse conditions; i.e., CO2 penetration, far than that conventional ones.
